LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The Winchester-Dondero Cultural Center will host a two-day jazz festival on Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27, from 3 to 8 p.m., featuring performances by some of the region’s top jazz musicians, alongside workshops and classes. The event, organized by the Las Vegas Jazz Society, is free and open to the public.
The festival marks the 50th anniversary of the Las Vegas Jazz Society, founded in 1975 by jazz bassist Monk Montgomery and a group of musicians and enthusiasts, including the society’s current president, Judy Tarte. The celebration highlights the organization’s legacy and its contributions to the local jazz scene.
Kicking off the weekend, the Nevada State Museum will unveil a special exhibit on Friday, April 25, honoring the musicians who backed legendary performers, helping cement Las Vegas’ reputation as the “Entertainment Capital of the World.” The exhibit opening is also free, though reservations are required for both the museum event and the festival.
